Common immigration questions

Do I need a solicitor for a UK visa?

No. You can apply to the Home Office yourself. Legal help matters most when you have been refused before, when your evidence is complicated, or when a deadline is close.

What does an immigration application cost?

Our legal fee depends on the application. For example, an Indefinite Leave to Remain application is typically £1,500 – £2,200, excluding VAT. Every published range is on our fees page. The Home Office application fee and the Immigration Health Surcharge are separate charges paid to the government: see the visa fee checker and how the surcharge is worked out on GOV.UK.

How long does a visa application take?

Getting an application ready typically takes 2 to 6 weeks from the day we have your documents. The Home Office then decides in its own time, which depends on the route and where you apply from. It publishes its current times for applications from outside the UK and inside the UK.

What can I do if my application is refused?

Your refusal letter states your options, such as an appeal or an administrative review, and the deadline. From inside the UK it is usually 14 days from the decision. Send the letter to us and we will tell you in writing which option fits and what it costs. Our refusals and appeals page explains each option.

How do I get started?

Call our London office on 020 7063 9040 or our Leicester office on 0116 393 0334, Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm, or send us a message. Tell us what you need and we'll tell you which route fits and what it will cost.
