If you close the promotional bar at the top of the page, it also records that, so it stays closed. Both exist only to do what you have just told us to do, they identify nobody and they are never sent anywhere — so they cannot be turned off. The live chat window in the corner of the page is run for us by tawk.to, and it stores what it needs to let you reach us and to keep a conversation in one piece; it is listed in full in the privacy notice.

Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager. It sets cookies that tell us which pages and services people read, and roughly where they came from, so we can make the site more useful. It is not used to advertise to you. This switch also covers two smaller things we keep in your browser: how long the offer on the promotional bar has left to run for you, and a note that you have read an article, so the same one is not counted twice.
